Castle clay has the same workability and strength of Sculpture 412 but has had the grog replaced with a 60 mesh sand. At high firing temperatures additional texture and color are achived with this clay due to the nature of the sand. This clay is great for sculpture and for those with tough hands can be thrown into very thin pieces. Works well in pit fires. Safety Data Sheet

With great toothiness and plasticity it allows the sculptor or potter to make large graceful pieces. Those who have spent time working with Sculpture 412 will find Sculpture Freckle a familiar body. With most of its properties, other than appearance, matching Sculpture 412 Sculpture Freckle can be used in most of the same applications. Sculpture Freckle fires well to Cone 10 in Oxidation. In heavily reducing environments Sculpture Freckle has been found to begin melting between cone 7 and 10.
